My family and I were victims of a big fire in our house last April 21st, 2011. We were at home, in bed sleeping when a faulty space heater in my daughter’s bedroom started a fire. Luckily, we all got out to safety and called 911.
The New Berlin Fire Department arrived very quickly and saved the house from total destruction. I still cannot believe how helpful and personal the fireman were to me after they were done putting out the fire. I was hysterical and couldn’t think clearly and needed guidance on what I needed to do nest. I learned that I just needed to secure the doors and windows that night and follow the direction of my insurance company the next day. I called a local New Berlin company called Purofirst and they came right out that night and boarded up my house. I ended up liking and trusting that company and decided to have them help me to process my personal property to pack up-move out to clean and also to help me make the lists of things that they determined were not restorable. Purofirst was more help making sense of all of this to me than my own insurance company, so I decided to have them repair the house too and I’m glad I did. I am close to being able to move back home and they even enlarged my kitchen for me. Again, I don’t know the names of the fireman that took the time to calmly talk with me that night. I can say that what they did for me went beyond just putting out a fire, they took on the human needs as well.
I have been meaning to send this thank you letter ever since, but as can be imagined, my life has been in turmoil since then.

Dear Prospective Client,
I had the privilege of having Purofirst clean my house after an accident with my oil furnace. The company that provides maintenance for my furnace failed to replace a defective part. As a result I experienced a “puffback” where my oily soot built up and blew through the vents in my home. The soot was everywhere in the basement; on the walls, on the floors, and even on the beams. Upstairs this oily residue was on my walls, furniture, clothes, and just about everything else.
Purofirst came in and cleaned my house in about five days. They paid attention to detail and made my house as clean as or cleaner than it was before. I am very happy with the work Purofirst did to restore my home.

I wanted to document some recent actions that have taken place with our HRP contractor Purofirst of Milwaukee. Purofirst has been an excellent contractor to work with for both American Family and our customers.
Recently, I worked a fire job with Todd from Purofirst. The insured was a cop for the City of Milwaukee and his daughter was burned in the fire. The insured was concerned about their daughter and they did not have time to find a contractor. I informed the insured that they could interview and hire Purofirst, our HRP contractors. The insured was thrilled about this idea and Todd was called. Todd and I met within an hour of receiving the claim. I wrote the estimate on site and gave the estimate to Todd. Todd agreed to do the work based on my estimate. There were no supplements and the file was able to be resolved with a fair payment and within hours of receiving the assignment. I followed up with the insured about Purofirst’s work and he was extremely happy.
Rick (from Purofirst) helped me settle a plumbing leak with our agent. A call came in for a sudden and accidental plumbing leak. I inspected the loss, took a recorded statement from the insured and found the plumbing leak to be covered under sudden and accidental loss. Rick was given our estimate and agreed to our pricing. Our agent left on vacation and Rick started the repairs while the agent was away. When Rick opened the floor, he found evidence that this leak may have been occurring over a period of time and that there may be some minor mold and rot. However, we were able to take care of the covered portion of the loss and because of Rick we were not dragged into a coverage dispute. The agent was thrilled when they returned home from their vacation to a new bathroom.
I just left a job with Troy (from Purofirst) where we have a HO5 Replacement Policy on a mobile home. The insured has cancer and is believed to be terminally ill. This past weekend there was a water leak under the sink. A contractor met me on site and asked me to gut the insured’s kitchen. I believed we could dry the cabinets in place and treat the cabinets for mold. The insured informed me that his doctor told him he should make sure the mold was 100% gone due to his health issues. Troy was able to get to the insured’s dwelling within 30 minutes, meet me on site, scope the loss, agree to my estimate and make sure the insured feel comfortable that the mold would be removed without gutting the kitchen. Most importantly, the insured was comfortable with our claims handling and secondly, I am estimating we saved over $7,000.00 to $10,000.00 on this job because of Troy’s help.
When it comes to working as a team to take care of the insured, I am finding that it is EXTREMELY easy to work with Purofirst of Milwaukee.
There is a rumor around our office that they have room for growth when it comes to contents claims. Putting the contents issues aside, I would tell these three gentlemen that they are doing an excellent job helping our customers, myself, and building a trusting working relationship with American Family.
Thanks for not inflating our claims, for working with us to write a fair scope, holding the insured’s hand when they need it, and providing prompt customer service.
